The GD apartments complex project embarked on the task of restoring and renovating a historic apartment complex, originally built in 1934. The complex comprises five units, with four smaller apartments of about 45m² each and a larger, two-level unit facing the street. Each apartment was uniquely reimagined, yet they all now share common features: efficient floor space utilization, ample natural lighting, ventilation, and the incorporation of skylights, double-height spaces, and terraces. The transformation included converting former rooftops into additional bedrooms and transforming small courtyards into double-height interior halls, thereby enhancing the ground-floor areas with abundant natural light. While each unit boasts its own distinct layout, a sense of unity is maintained across the complex. This is achieved through the thoughtful use of color - each apartment is identified by a specific color theme applied to its entrance, kitchen, and bathroom, paying homage to the original building’s character.
